Dream World 3 - Jae

Dream World 3 portrayed how the music industry exploits the sexuality of women in a negative way to attract a male audience. Further more men exploit women's bodies for their own pleasure and show society how they men should view their own masculinity. The music industry leaves nothing of limits when filming a music video. Women are half naked to actually being naked, hit, stalked, and etc and this kind of behavior is shown for all men and women to see of all ages and this influences how men and women act and society and how they think they should act.

My male friends in high school would emulate various rapers such as Jay-Z to Lil Wayne. They would treat women exactly how they were treated in these music videos. One of my friends Edwardo used to women as if they were simply objects. He would say phrases such as “bend over for me” and he would pull women in the corner and say “blow me”. It was disgusting to watch. They even dressed as they did in the music videos, baggy pants with over sized shorts and the occasional diamond earring. Obviously music videos have more of an affect than just how men treat women. These music videos tell young men that they can do these things to women and that they have the right to.

One interesting thing that I found in the video was that women found that they had to conform to the behavior of way society expected them to be in terms of a music video. They were expected to be half naked, dancing like a stripper, and being around a man. Young girls themselves dress and bring themselves in that way. Young girls in my high school would dress and act in a way that would attract men and to them it was by wearing inappropriate clothing and acting in a way that was subservient to men. When a woman acts in this way I believe that that behavior gives men more power because that is how he would expect her to act.
